Wheel Garden Residence – A Lovely Family-Friendly Hotel in Siem Reap

Our family trip to Angkor Wat a few months ago has been absolutely magical. We booked in advance via Airbnb a lovely small family-friendly hotel in Siem Reap. Situated away from the hustle and bustle of the temple town, this cozy little paradise was so peaceful and serene, and a great starting point to explore the ruins of Angkor Wat. The staff was extremely polite and helpful, and did everything to make us feel like home away from home. Also, they fell completely in love with our two monkeys and were always so kind and attentive to them : )

Wheel Garden Residence provided us a free pick-up service from the airport. The staff on reception welcomed us with a warm smile, accompanied by refreshing drinks. They offered us an early check-in, which was a really nice gesture on their part, since we were pretty exhausted of the early morning flight. They even were so kind to organize our tours to Angkor Wat and gave us very useful tips about the main attractions in Siem Reap.

As most hotels and guest houses here, our lovely hotel had English-speaking remork (Cambodian tuk-tuk) drivers on-staff, who were always ready to take us somewhere. We were sooo lucky to meet the nicest man in the world, who became our private driver during our stay in Siem Reap. We made the tours to Angkor Wat with him (for the price of US $ 18 per day) and went twice per day to downtown for lunch and dinner (for US$ 3 per ride). The last day, he was happy to get up early in the morning and take us at 5 am to the airport (that costed US$ 5). This good man absolutely adored the kids, took a picture with us and was so sad to say us good bye at the airport… That was adorable!

After our tours to Angkor Wat, we were more than happy to come back and relax in this peaceful little paradise. Our family room was spacious and comfy with two king size beds, which were perfect a family with two kids. Both room and bathroom were bright, airy and immaculate clean.

The best feature in this budget family-friendly hotel in Siem Reap was the gorgeous tropical outdoor area. There was a beautiful restaurant and a lovely chill out pool area, where we spent peaceful and serene afternoons. The restaurant’s menu wasn’t vegan-friendly, so we used to eat only in downtown Siem Reap, where we found a great abundance of vegan & vegetarian spots (check out our guide to the Best Vegan Restaurants in Siem Reap). However, we every day we enjoyed by the pool some huge and super delicious coconuts, cold beer and yummy sweet potato nachos.

Of course, the swimming pool was a total hit with our kids! It was so refreshing and nice to cool down here after the daily tours to Angkor Wat.

We also loved chilling by the pool after dinner. It was so beautiful and romantic here…
